Mes recherches aboutissent en haute Gatineau au Québec, Canada. Mon aventure débute en mai 2014. En dehors de mes heures de travail, j’allais vagabonder dans le bois à la recherche d’ours à photographier. Mon résultat était presque nul et j’étais bien loin de mes attentes! Puis l’idée me vient de trouver un endroit stationnaire pour y faire l’observation. J’y installai plusieurs sites, mais aucun ne semblait fonctionner ! Je me suis donc mis à faire des recherches, consulter des chasseurs, à écouter des anecdotes et au bout de ma troisième année j’ai commencé à obtenir des résultats…

Une nouvelle installation, une bonne préparation et un nouveau territoire furent nécessaires. Ce qui s’avérera être ma petite mine d’or ! De mai à fin août 2016, j’avais déjà répertorié et observé six ours. Après de nombreuses heures à les observer, j’en suis venus à constater qu’il avait tous leurs particularités, leur comportement distinctif et leurs traits de caractère. Certains sont devenue plus faciles d’approche avec le temps, d’autres sont resté plus méfiants. J’ai dû interrompre l’empâtage d’une femelle en particulier, qui rôdait un peu trop proche de moi… Pour ceux qui ne sont pas familiers avec ce plantigrade (qui marche en posant entièrement la plante des pieds sur le sol).

My research finds in upper Gatineau in Quebec, Canada. My adventure begins in May 2014. Outside my working hours, I was going to wander in the wood in search of bear to photograph. My result was almost nil and I was far from my expectations! Then the idea comes to me of finding a stationary place to make the observation. I installed several sites, but none seemed to work! So I started researching, consulting hunters, listening to anecdotes and at the end of my third year I began to get results …

A new installation, a good preparation and a new territory were necessary. What will prove to be my little gold mine! From May to the end of August 2016, I had already recorded and observed six bears. After many hours of observing them, I came to see that they had all their peculiarities, their distinctive behavior and their traits of character. Some have become easier to approach with time, others have remained more suspicious. I had to interrupt the mating of a female in particular, who prowled a little too close to me … For those unfamiliar with this plantigrade (which works by placing the entire soles of the feet on the ground) .
